PALAKKAD FORT POST OFFICE Samrakshana Samithi
 PALAKKAD 678001
Date : 12/07/13
To
The Sr.supdt of PO s
Palakkad Division  678001

Sir,
Sub : Shifting of of Palakkad Fort Post office to Palakkad  HO  building.

We came to know that the functioning of Palakkad Fort Post office is proposed to be shifted to Palakkad Head Post office building by your office recent orders.  We strongly register our resentment and protest towards any move which will curtail or deny  the basic needs of communication and small savings means of the common man.
We fear that,   the recent order to shift the Palakkad Fort Post office to Palakkad HO building, in effect,  will lead to  the closure of that Post Office. The non renewal of rent agreement on time is understood to have done deliberately to achieve this. The non availability of a suitable building can also not be quoted as a valid reason. You may recall that similar such step issued earlier to close down the PO had to be abandoned midway due to the stiff resistance from its public beneficiaries. In this era of widening and improving the customer services, withdrawing the existing facilities is highly shameful and incongruous. We all  know  that , getting a suitable building for post office will not be a difficult task  if the department  really intends to do so.
Palakkad Fort post office is serving a definite and well defined community around Palakkad FORT and carries a historic name. We realize that, it has registered a steady growth in revenue over the years and has more potential to improve further. So the shifting of the PO to Palakkad HO building is detrimental to the interest of the public.
So it is requested that the order of shifting of Fort PO to Palakkad HO building may be withdrawn  immediately.

PALAKKAD DIVISION, PALAKKAD 678001

Transfers/ dt 11/07/2013

To
The Sr.Supdt of Pos
Palakkad Dvn , Palakkad 678001

Sir,
Sub : Accute staff shortage and unnecessary transfers.
Your immediate attention and remedial step are invited to a serious issue prevailing in this division.
You are well aware that this division is reeling under severe staff shortage. Many of the operative offices are taking a daunting task in performing their daily work in the absence of sufficient staffing.
Palakkad HPO , in particular, is in a state of un management with a shortage of about six persons. With a sanctioned strength of 30 posts (including supervisors), this HPO is working with 24 staff members. In this, two system administrators, one marketing executive and a trainer are working in non sanctioned posts burdening the PA work force. This worst scenario is resulted recently due to the mindless transfer posting effected conveniently in the name of interest of service and non executing the previous transfers completely. The similar situations exists in other offices also. It is worth mentioning that the staff shortage to this extend will definitely affect the office functioning resulting unwarranted public complaints.
The transfer order issued today on 11/07/13 is like adding more oil on the already burning lamp. Pg Collectorate PO is an important office functioning in the Palakkad civil station building and it is one of the heavy offices on the basis of  work load. Taking away one staff each from Pg collectorate and Palakkad HPO to maintain  sufficient staffing at DO can not be justified in any means. We wonder, why the proportionate staff shortage is not reflected in the administrative office.  The issue of this recent order not considering the already made transfer requests is highly provocative.
Considering the above , the problems arising out of the recent order should be solved immediately if not revoked it entirely.
Yours faithfully,

Secretary
