P3/BOs /SEPT 2014 /22.09.2014

Sir,

Sub:   Closing down   of Chandramala estate BO on account of poor performance.
Ref: Yr letter No   No.A/Nemmara dtd at pg the25.08.2014

With reference to the above, it is our firm standpoint that closure of branch offices cannot be entertained at any cost. There are so many other ways to improve the position. Nelliyampathy is a neglected area now and the farming is almost in peril. Thus the laborers and laymen are deprived of wages and other means of livelihood. Tourism is an area of ample scope for the improvement of Nelliyampathy. It is yet in a primary stage. In this time of transition from traditional livelihood to modern means of earning,   everything in Nelliyampathy is facing a setback. Post office is no exemption.
A meeting of the local people including the people`s representatives is over and they have chalked out ways and means to improve the position in the given situation. At this stage, the future of the Post office has become a serious concern of the local people.
The tribal area is under great difficulty due to the absence of a departmental office. Down gradation of the two sub offices of this area unscrupulously years before had created wide spread discontent among the public. Withdrawal and disbursement of pension through EMO are the worst affected. Cutting down the wings again by totally wiping out an outlet indeed is widely considered as an act of utmost cruelty.

Therefore we request you to refrain from the proposal to close down the BO.

Yours faithfully,
C.Unnikrishnan
