SETTLE BUILDING CASES......NFPE writes to SSP

LETTER SUBMITTED TO THE SENIOR SUPERINTENDENT OF POST OFFICES, PALAKKAD DIVISION BY THE UNIONS AFFILIATED TO NFPE.

TO : SSP, PALAKKAD

You are well aware of the whole hearted support extended by the employees of this division in all spheres of activities   including procurement of business, which helped Palakkad Division to remain on the highest level of target achievement.

Unfortunately, it is pointed out with lot of concern that there is little improvement in the precarious situation of the post office buildings of this Division.  Our demand is not for fine ambience of the buildings, though it is a contributory factor for business promotion; but to sustain the existing offices and its premises by reassessment and timely enhancement of the rent we are already paying to avoid the unwanted scenes created by the landlords in the office surroundings.

The Postal Administration is deliberately neglecting the genuine cases of rent enhancements.  The case of Pallipuram is the best example.   The office is situated in a prime location near Palakkad bazar.  With much effort undertaken by all our staff that we could obtain the building and sheer   apathy of the Postal Administration  results in losing the well located office for our present operation.

In the case of Ambikapuram SO, though we have suggested an alternate building within 5 Kms of existing dilapidated building, the divisional administration has missed the opportunity by lingering on flimsy reasons for the non occupation of the newly identified building.

Yet another case is that of Palakkad Fort which is our prestigious office and with much strain that we have found out a building to host the Post Office.  Now we understand that the divisional administration has a hidden agenda to close this office by merging it with Palakkad Collectorate SO.  The proposal must be dropped straightaway.  We register our protest against any such move and will resort to fight in tooth and nail for the cause.

It is our vision that   the Divisional Administration also must move ahead with a view to widen the post office network and not finding ways to close down the existing offices, thereby curtailing the opportunity for the public  to utilize postal services.

We request the administration to settle all the building issues prevailing in our division as early as possible.

Yours faithfully,
M.Velayudhan                                     A.Kesavanunni                          K.S.Unnikrishnan
