Memorandum submitted to the Sr.Supdt. of Post offices ,Palakkad Division ,Palakkad 678001

Sir,

The situation in post offices has snowballed into a worse scenario now especially due to the over work done due to DBT pensions. There are problems in   infrastructure for the smooth functioning of the offices .Hence we invite your kind attention to the following issues.
Problem generated after introduction of DBT of Social Security Pensions

As you know, our PMs / SPMs are now facing much difficulties in post offices after the roll out of Welfare pensions as DBT and employees of this division are striving  hard to carry out  the herculean task of pension disbursement. Many branch offices are utilizing the services of outsiders in this disbursement process, in addition to their laborious work. Crowd management has been a new issue this time. The praiseworthy social outlook and the propensity to work hard demonstrated by our staff in this daunting time was the only reason for the lack of major complaints from the general public and the peoples’ representatives. Many of the offices are now working up to 09.30 pm due to work load of DBT. This includes our low paid GDS officials working in BOs / SOs.

The wholehearted and sincere involvement of our staff should be highly appreciated. Besides, all the officials involved in this activity including poor GDS staff should be suitably remunerated based on the quantum of their disbursement work. Our view that, though we have successfully completed almost all the DBT work in our division as a special case during this festive season, it will be impossible to carry out such work in the same manner in future. This has severely affected our other services and business activities, by which probably our income during the period might have considerably been reduced. Therefore re–introduction of old arrangement for welfare pension payments such as EMO etc. may be explored.
Building cases

Immediate repair to the following departmental buildings.

  Postal Staff quarters at Palakkad
  Kavasseri PO building
  Vandithavalam PO Building
  Kollengode PO building

Immediate attention to the problems of rented buildings of following Pos.

  Kunnathurmedu, Palakkad Fort, Koduvayur

Technological issues prevailing in Pos

This issue has been brought to your notice several times. But no positive result has emerged  yet. A number of major offices in our division are running with outdated systems, printers and UPS. Therefore we unions urge upon the Divisional administration to take up the matter. Supply of new UPSs / Printers / Systems etc to all the needy offices may be considered. Some of the issues which require attention on priority are given below:

  UPS issue at Thattamangalam, Perinkulam and Mudappalur.

Reduction of TRCA in case of BPMs

Our memorandum dated 18.06.15 has already requested you to re consider the reductions cases of our fellow GDS BPMs. But it is seen that no remedial action has been materialised. Therefore, we demand you to kindly stop the reduction of TRCA of BPMs.  The case of Sri. K Sivadasan, GDS BPM, Kollengode West, Kollengode is an example.

We look for kind immediate action.

Thanking you,

Yours faithfully,
